Recycling at Love Running

We are very passionate about recycling and reusing unwanted items. The main item we accrue as a business is cardboard, and our licensed waste collector takes this to the local recycling depot. Our clothing items often come to us in plastic wrappings, but most of it is recyclable, and this is kept in a seperate bag from general waste. Once or twice a year a full bag of recycleable poly bags is taken away by our licensed collector. If any customer wishes to leave any wrappings, bags, packets, shoe-boxes or tags with us from any of your in-store purchases we will be very happy to recycle/dispose of the them on your behalf.

We occasionally receive bubble wrap and tissue paper wrappings with goods from our suppliers. Both of these products are saved to be re-used by other businesses in Newport, but if you ever need any yourself please feel free to pop in! If you need a shoe-box too, we will be happy to oblige.

In 2019 we started to collect some items for charity, and in 2019 we also registered with Terracycle. This is an ongoing project and we hope to add more items to our collection list in due course.

To date we collect the following items:

Bottle tops

We are a collection point for all bottle tops containing a “2” or “4” in the recycling triangle. Tops need to be clean and dry please. The tops are given to local charity “Ability Dogs 4 Young People”, and help to raise vital funds for the work of the charity. Bottle tops for the same charity are also collected at the Medina IOW parkrun; simply put them in the collection bucket by the table every week.

Stamps

We pass used stamps to the local charity “Ability Dogs 4 Young People”. The stamps need to be complete and undamaged and have a border of 5mm around the edges please. The stamps help to raise funds for the ongoing work of the charity.

Weleda Soft Touch Bottles

In April 2019 we signed up with Terracycle (https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/) and as we work directly opposite a health food shop selling Weleda products we have registered to collect empty Weleda soft-touch tubes! Several shops in Newport are collecting crisp packets, biscuit & confectionary packets, broken pens, toothpaste tubes & tooth brushes for Terracycle, and we are happy to point you in the right direction or take any items from you if you are not able to visit those shops in person. Signed up to Terracycle locally are “Master of Disguise” in Watchbell Lane (they accept all the listed items) and “Number 30” – the HQ of Reshaping Newport – in the High Street (they collect crisp packets).
